Goals galore in SAB Soccer League as local teams thrash opposition

Local teams were in their element as most of them came out victorious in high scoring matches.

Week 26 of the SAB Soccer League took place this past weekend with various teams around the Gert Sibande District participating at stadiums across the region.

Ermelo United was the only local team to register a loss, going down 4 – 1 to Breyten Home Sweepers at the KwaZanele Stadium.

VOC United FC bounced back from a bad run of matches, thrashing a Comet Riders FC side, who had no response to their six goals at the Kantombazane Open Ground.

The match ended 6 – 0.

City Gunners FC also flew the local flag high, putting three goals past the Shooters FC goalkeeper at the Silobela Stadium.

That match ended 3 – 0.

Mafia FC rounded of the local matches when they took advantage of their home ground, AJ Swanepoel Stadium, by scoring five goals to Flying Stars FC’s one goal.

The match ended 5 – 1.

In other matches, Flymingo United FC beat a lackluster Losta Stars FC side 5 – 2 at the Milnar Park Stadium, while Breyten United FC went down 3 – 2 to Somhlolo FC in what was a tough encounter at the Lothair Stadium.

The next round of matches will take place during the weekend at various stadiums around the district.
