Ayanda selected for SA Women’s Rugby Team

She was realistic about the challenges of women entering a male-dominated sport in our country.

With Springbok captain Siya Kolisi as firm favourite, Standerton’s own Ayanda Malinga, surely is on the right track.

Ayanda was selected as fullback of the South African Women’s Rugby Team.

Her coach, Mr Devril Boucher, considers her one of the phenomena in Mpumalanga women’s rugby.

“She has come a long way and is doing very well,” Mr Boucher said.

He has been instrumental in her training since 2016 when she played for the U/18s.

Ayanda attended Khunjuliwe Secondary School in Ext 8 and was introduced to the sport at the age of 16 through a friend .

She was realistic about the challenges of women entering a male-dominated sport in our country.
