Sasol Secunda cricketers take down opponents in warm-up matches

Sasol Secunda’s next and final warm-up match will be against Pirates Cricket Club in Johannesburg on 23 September

SECUNDA – Sasol Secunda Cricket Club won both their cricket matches over the weekend.

The team played a 40-overs warm-up match against Pretoria East Cricket Club on Saturday, 8 September and beat their competition with 85 runs.

Sasol lost the toss and was sent in to bat first. They scored 237 runs in the 40 overs.

Gerald Ngwenyama who had his debut for the club, scored 53 runs off 38 balls. Diaan du Plooy scored 39 runs and opener Werner Coetzee scored 28 runs under very difficult swinging conditions.

The wind was extreme, but did not hamper Sasol’s bowlers from taking out Pretoria East.

Sasol bowled out Pretoria East for 152 runs.

Ngwenyama yet again shined with the ball, taking four wickets for 24 runs in his eight overs.

Dodds van Zyl took three wickets for 23 runs in eight overs and Ignus Koekemoer felled two wickets for 29 runs in eight overs.

eMba played against the Sasol Bulldogs on Sunday.

Sasol bowled eMba out for 152 and won the match with three wickets. Colin van Staden was the best batsman with 66 runs not out.

Sasol Secunda’s next and final warm-up match will be against Pirates Cricket Club in Johannesburg on 23 September.

Ngwenyama will also be participating in the Africa T20 cup in East London next weekend, representing Mpumalanga Titans Cricket.
