Amabutho Fitness Club remembers Thabza Gada

The club will host 40km Gada Memorial Walk on Saturday, 27 July.

HIGHVELD – Amabutho Fitness Club will host a 40km Gada Memorial Walk in honour of the late co-founder of the club, Thabza Gada, on Saturday, 27 July.

Gada died in a car accident in July last year.

His death left teammates devastated.

After three months of not participating in fitness events, the team decided to take part in the Toyota Warrior Race event in Soweto.

They then decided to host a memorial walk in his honour.

Gada was one of the co-founders of the club with his friends Marcus Mlungu, Happy Molefe and Pat Mathabathe.

The fitness club was established a year before his death after the quartet took part in the Toyota Warrior Race in Midrand.

In no time the team saw itself attending several fitness events, such as Sasol Night Races, PWC 3-in-1 race and the Toyota Warrior Race.

They often attended gym sessions together.

“The club grew to such an extend that we are having bootcamp sessions twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4.45 pm at the Duck Pond in Secunda.

“Our vision is to broaden the Amabutho Fitness Club to an umbrella for different fitness options such as bootcamps, aerobics, running, heavy lifting and extreme sports.

“We are grateful to BlackVreka Fitness Club under the leadership on Vusi Hlabangwane and LT Fitness under the leadership of Lerato Kumalo and Tebogo Monama, for their contribution to our club,” said Marcus Mlungu.

Other events that the club will soon host are:

– August: Women’s Month celebration (Collection of sanitary towels for the impoverish)
– Weekdays Tuesday and Thursday 4.45pm at the Duck Pond in Secunda.
– September: Collection of shoes for needy children.
– October: Fitness for change event (dates to be confirmed)
