Standerton Parkrun registers 75 athletes despite the cold

A total of 75 participants listened to the important instructions beforehand, for some old hat, but newcomers usually realise this is not going to be a flat, even surface.

The parkrun at the Standerton River Park has reached golden status for Koos Potgieter and Marli Griesel who did their 50th run on Saturday, 13 July.

Potgieter also volunteered for the 25th time at this weekly event.

A total of 75 participants listened to the important instructions beforehand, for some old hat, but newcomers usually realise this is not going to be a flat, even surface.

Altogether 19 volunteers facilitated the event on the 5km course that involves doing a second lap, but placed at strategic points, a word of encouragement comes naturally to them.

Brendan Archer, Deon Lee, Fadeela Omar, Jasmyn Archer, Johan van Zyl, Kaley Stevens, Koos Potgieter, Laylaa Kisten, Leandri van Wyk, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Marjorie Uys, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Romalan Dorasamy, Pomesan Govender, Megail Stevens, Shalyn Stevens, Stanley du Plessis, Yunus Omar en Theo Schönfeldt contributed to another successful gathering.
