The Little Bears won the match with seven wickets

BETHAL – The Little Bears U/13 cricket team played against the Witbank Wolves on Laerskool Marietjie van Niekerk’s pitch on Saturday, 3 August.

The Wolves won the toss and elected to bat first. They batted really well and accumulated a score of 253 runs for three wickets in 32 overs before declaring their first innings.

The Little Bears lost two quick wickets, but Pieter Viljoen with 69 runs off 65 balls and Damian de Beer with 52 off 32 balls formed a strong partnership. With the help of Sabelo Mahlangu’s 20 runs the Little Bears made 193 runs.

In the Wolves second innings they struggled to get away as quickly as the first innings and scored only 92 runs for three wickets before declaring for a second time, setting the Little Bears a target of 153 to win.

Pieter Viljoen got off to good start, but lost his wicket for 17 runs.

Damian de Beer made 95 runs and Joshua Pillay made 27 runs.

The Little Bears won the match with seven wickets.

The U/11 team played in an away game against Piet Retief.
