Local players warm up for the next cricket season
Sasol beat Standerton by a convincing 118 runs

Local cricket teams played warm-up games the past weekend to get themselves in shape for the next cricket season.
The Sasol Cricket Club (Sasol Xi) faced Standerton on Saturday, 7 September on the pitch in Secunda.
They beat Standerton by a convincing 118 runs.
The match was reduced to a 30 overs a side game.
Sasol managed to score 233 runs for six wickets in the allocated 30 overs.
Colin van Staden smacked 146 runs, not out.
In reply Standerton scored 115 runs.
JP Austin wrapped up the tail with four wickets for seven runs in 1.5 overs.
A Sasol Xi team played against Sasol Kinross on Saturday, 8 September, and scored 215 runs.
CJ Bisschoff top scored with 47 runs.
Sasol bowled out Kinross for 54 runs.
Nicus Boshoff took three wickets for 15 runs.
Mr Ignus Koekemoer, president of SSCC, said the players need to work on a few things before the season begins, but overall the weekend’s matches showed a good performance for the first matches of the season. Mr Martin Uys from Standerton said their team consisted out of several young and development players.
“The match was a good warm-up for the Standerton team,” he said.
