Sasol Secunda Cricket Club’s teams celebrate victories

Sasol 1 will be hosting the Gert Sibande semi -final and finals on Sunday, 20 October.

SECUNDA – The cricket season is in full swing for the Secunda Sasol Cricket Club.

Sasol 1 and Sasol 2 competed in the T20 Premier league on Saturday, 12 October.

Sasol 1 played against eMbalenhle that morning.

eMba was restricted to 129/9 in their 20 overs. George Louw took three wickets for 17 runs. Ignus Koekemoer also took three for 25 runs in his four overs.

Sasol chased the target in 13.5 overs. George Louw scored 55 runs of 46 balls not out and Johan van Antwerpen scored 51 of 40 not out. Sasol 1 won with nine wickets.

Sasol 2 played against Standerton for a place in the semi-finals.

Standerton was bowled out for 81 runs. Sam Radebe took five wickets for 11 runs in four overs and JP Austin took two wickets for 12 runs in his 4 overs.

Sasol 2 chased the score down in 13.1 overs. Michael Rossouw top scored with 29 runs not out.

Both the Sasol teams competing in Promotional League, played two matches on Sunday, 13 October.

Sasol 5 Legends faced the Bethal Bears Old Boys.

The Legends set up 230/3 in their first match against Bethal Bears Old Boys.

Johan Snyman scored 87 runs and Peet Jacobs scored 52 runs. Sasol restricted Old Boys to 129/6 in their 20 overs. Dylan Niemand took two wickets for 10 runs. Sasol Legends won with 101 runs.

Peet Jacobs scored 96 runs for the Sasol Legends on Sunday, 13 October.

Sasol Legends then continued their winning spree by beating Standerton 3 Academy by 65 runs.

Sasol Legends set up yet another massive target of 235/5 in their 20 overs.

Again Peet Jacobs scored brilliantly with 96 runs. Jaco Joubert made 68 runs.

Sasol restricted Standerton 3 Academy to 170/8 in their 20 overs. Jacobus Nagel took four wickets for 10 runs.

Sasol 4 Griffons played against Standerton 3 Academy in their first match.

Standerton scored 186/8 in their 20 overs.

Ruan Jacobs, Gert Swanepoel and Kevin de Beer each took two wickets. Sasol reached the target in the 19th over and won the match with four wickets. Ruan Jacobs scored 72 runs.

Sasol 4 Griffons second match was against Bethal Bears Old Boys.

Sasol scored 235 runs for the loss of only 2 wickets in their 20 overs.

Nicus Boshoff scored an unbeaten 121 runs and Ruan Jacobs scored an unbeaten 69 runs.

Sasol bowled out Bethal for 186 runs.

Nicus Boshoff and Gert Swanepoel each took two wickets. Sasol won the match with 49 runs.

This weekend Sasol Legends and Sasol Griffons will play against each other and against Standerton 2 at Sasol on Saturday, 19 Oktober.

Sasol 1 will be hosting the Gert Sibande semi -final and finals on Sunday, 20 October.

The first semi-final will be between Sasol 1 and Ermelo 1 at 9am on the main oval.

The second semi-final will also be at 9am between Sasol 2 and Piet Retief on the Sasol B oval.

The final will be played at 1pm.
