Standerton Cricket Club beats Sasol in first games of season

Standerton Academy won their match against the Sasol Griffons by 111 runs.

Standerton’s cricket teams are off to a good start in this cricket season after both teams beat Sasol this past weekend.

The first team beat Sasol 1 by two wickets on the pitch at Secunda on Sunday 3, November.

Standerton kicked off with splendid bowling.

PJ Venter raked in four wickets for 27 runs in seven overs.

Xander Roux also did well with two wickets for 23 runs in six overs.

Sasol l put the batsmen under pressure with two early wickets.

Carus Janse van Rensburg steadied the ship and played a great innings with 45 runs off 38 balls, along with Johan Janse van Rensburg, who scored 26 runs off 36 balls.

Standerton Academy won their match against the Sasol Griffons by 111 runs.

After a really strong start with the bat, they set a hefty target to chase.

Gary van Aswegen scored 98 runs off 52 balls and Justin Uys 95 runs.

JD Lourens bowled a tight spell with 8.1 overs, two wickets and going for 48 runs.

Van Aswegen was tidy with five overs, two wickets and 16 runs.
