Secunda Marathon Club recognises the best runners

The Club hosted their annual event at the Multilink Conference Centre in Trichardt on Saturday, 9 November.

TRICHARDT – Colin Louw and Emrie van den Heever scooped the top honours at this year’s prize-giving and year-end function of the Secunda Marathon Club.

The Club hosted their annual event at the Multilink Conference Centre in Trichardt on Saturday, 9 November.Louw was awarded the trophy for Sportsman of the Year and Van den Heever is the Sportswoman of the Year.

They were the first man and woman in the club to cross the finish line at this year’s Comrades Marathon.Van den Heever was also the first woman from the club to finish this year’s Loskop Marathon.

Hein van Heerden presents Ryan Venter with the trophy for the man who ran the most races in club colours this year.

Her husband, Dirk van den Heever was the first man in the club to complete this year’s Loskop race.

The husband-and-wife team with the best time at the Comrades was Niel and Linmarie Swanepoel.

Denise Wolfaardt was the club’s last athlete to finish the 2019 Comrades.

Raynita Venter received the trophy for the Most promising athlete of the Year while Jeanine Vermeulen was recognised for her service to the club.

Graham Phillips received the accolade for the athlete with the best time trial attendance.

Ryan Venter and Wilna Jordaan were applauded for the man and woman who ran the most races for Secunda Marathon Club this year.

Wilna Jordaan receives the trophy for the woman who ran the most races in club colours this year from Hein van Heerden.
