W/O Louwrens van Schaik is top marksman in Mpumalanga
Van Schaik currently ranks first overall on the Mpumalanga Combat Rifle log
SECUNDA – W/O Louwrens van Schaik from Secunda raked in provincial trophies and accolades at Barberton on 18 January.
He clinched five top trophies at the Mpumalanga Combat Rifle Closed Championship held on that day.
These are for first place as the veteran champ in all classes as well as in the X class, the best police marksman in all the classes as well as in the X class and the best closed championship day total of all the classes with an average of 43,4.
Van Schaik said the conditions for accurate shooting on that day, were tough.
“The humidity was extreme in the morning, especially because we wore battle jackets. The sweat kept running down the inside of our glasses which impaired my vision.
The rain poured down in the afternoon, another condition that influence accuracy.”
Mpumalanga Combat Rifle Association also held their 2019 year-end prize-giving later that same day. Van Schaik reaped five trophies at this event, seven fist places, five second places and two third places.
He received trophies as veteran champion in all classes, the big total champion in all classes, the highest day total in all classes, the highest year total in the X class and the highest average in the X class, as well as first place certificates for X class championship totals and the police champion in the X class.
He received second place certificates for 200m totals in X class (best five leagues), snap totals in the X class (best five leagues) rapid totals in X class (best five leagues), the most matches won in all classes and attending the most leagues.
He also obtained third place in sustained fire totals in the X class and 300m totals in X class.
Van Schaik currently ranks first overall on the Mpumalanga Combat Rifle log.
