WATCH: Julie-Ann School of Dance students excel during lockdown

JSD hosted an online competition on 8 May which lifted the spirits of the students.

EVANDER- Julie-Ann School of Dance (JSD) has been on the ball during the lockdown period, with online challenges and doing all dance work needed for the students.

JSD hosted an online competition recently which also lifted the spirits of the students.

In the overall makeup winners are Jasmine Palmer and Elzaan Bezuidenhout who tied for first place.

In the overall personality category, Chanelle Markgraaff took first place. [Watch the video here]

Payton Pretorius and Isabel Schenk tied for first place in the category of overall costume winner.

Sunelle Grundling (6) won the freestyle category, Azariah Masote (6) achieved second place and Khwezi Maseko (6) took third place in the 3-6 years age group.

Payton Pretorius (10) achieved first place, Kiarah Fourie (7) achieved second place and Isabel Schenk (9) obtained third place in the 7-10 years group.

Ilze-Mari Homan (13) is 11-14 year freestyle winner [Watch the video here], with Hailey van der Berg (11) clinching second place and Gizelle Botes (13) achieving third place.

In the modern category Jasmine Palmer (10) achieved first place, Kiarah Fourie (7) achieved second place and Kaylene Balmakund (10) came third in the 7-10 years age group.

Hanelda Pienaar (13) is the 11-14 years group winner.

In the disco category, Gizelle Botes (13) won [Watch the video here], with Hailey van der Berg (11) achieving second place and Juane Kluyts (12) receiving third place in the 11-14 years age group.

Lerika Bronkhorst (13) is the first place winner in the acrobatic category [Watch the video here]; Hanelda Pienaar (13) achieved second place and Hailey van der Berg (11) third place in the 11-14 years age group.

In the Hip Hop and others category, Chanelle Markgraaff (15) achieved first place, Tshepang Madingoane (17) achieved second place and Dyaz Ward (17) received third place in the group for 15 years and older.

The overall winners for the competition were Chanelle Markgraaff with a mark of 93 per cent, Ilze-Mari Homan with a mark of 92 per cent and Lerika Bronkhorst with a mark of 92 per cent.

“We are probably going to host another competition in three weeks. And then by the end of July we are planning to hold a bigger competition that is going to be open for all other dance studios and organisations to join,” said Ms Julie-Ann Maudlin.
