Lekwa City FC wins provincial playoffs

Lekwa City FC also thanked their fans and supporters and urged them to continue rallying behind the team.

Lekwa City FC is the winners of the Mpumalanga Playoffs, which means they will compete in the ABC Motsepe League in the 2020/2021 season.

They thanked both teams playing in Group A, namely Mahamba FC from the Nkangala Region and This Year FC from the Ehlanzeni Region.

“It was a tough group with both teams there to win it,” Lekwa City FC said.

“Both were very strong and gave us a good run, however, it was not easy.”

In the first match, Mahamba FC lost 0-2 to Lekwa City FC 2, with Skhalo Ngwenya scoring the goals. In the second match, Lekwa City FC beat This Year FC 2-1, with Thabo ‘Zizo’ Nhlabathi and Thabang ‘McCarthy’ Motloung scoring the goals.

Lekwa City FC also thanked their fans and supporters and urged them to continue rallying behind the team.

The team added that each and every match played against them, was like a Cup Final, saying opposing players arrived 120% prepared and by doing so, prepared them to be a strong side.

Mr Linda Dhlamini, mayor of the Lekwa Municipality, congratulated everyone involved with Lekwa City FC, wishing them all the best for the upcoming league. “Keep up the good work of taking Lekwa to new heights,” Mr Dhlamini said.
