Lekwa City FC from Standerton fires a bunch of players
Head Coach Musa Magagula was so angry and disappointed with some of local players in the team, saying they do not respect the team.
Lekwa City fired six of its regular players.
Their match against Witbank City Lads on Saturday, 23 May ended in a 2-2 draw.
According to their spokesman, they had a tough time this past weekend when they had to play almost the whole 75 minutes with 10 players.
Sabelo Madi was given a red card after he committed a foul in the first half, the opponents were awarded a penalty.
Lekwa City then led by one goal and after less than a minute, Lekwa City’s Vusi ‘Fish’ Mofokeng equalised.
Witbank Citylads came back to score their second goal before the end of the first half, with Lekwa City going to the first half trailing by 2-1.
The second half was tough as Lekwa City was a man down and Witbank City Lads were coming all out, wanting to bury Lekwa City.
Lekwa City FC however, scored a goal in the last minutes of the match through Isaack ‘Bashin’ Nhlapho.
Their spokesman said Head Coach Musa Magagula was so angry and disappointed with some of local players in the team, saying they do not respect the team, nor the chairman, supporters and the community at large.
Altogether six players went to play a tournament in Vrede on the day at 10am.
“They knew very well that at 3pm, Lekwa City will be playing a crucial match,” Magagula said.
“Those players cost the team the maximum points.”
The dismissed players are Mthokozisi Shabangu, Sekhoto Mlatu, Mzimkhulu Tshabalala, Nhlanhla Selepe, Nhlanhla Nhlapo and Lerato Matela
Lekwa City is now travelling to Bush Buck Ridge to face Benfica FC on Saturday, 29 May.
It will be the last match of the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe-season.
