Dancers compete in Solo Dance Schoolsport at Sasol Recreational Club in Secunda

Dancers competed in the Solo Dance SchoolSport Inter Provincial Tournament that was held at the Sasol Recreational Club on September 24 and 25.

The two-day tournament saw dancers in age groups 15 years and under competed in categories Performing Arts, Rhythm and Movement, Latin and Street.

They were judged by adjudicators Ms Hester Schwarz, Ms Robyn Bond Ms Salome Sachele, Mr Grant Esterhuizen. Mr Esterhuizen and Ms Sachele previously judged and danced on the TV show Strictly Come Dancing.

Mr Christiaan Els from Mpumalanga Sports Confederation was also present as well as the Provincial Dance Federation – DanceSport Mpumalanga.

Results are as follows:

Friday, September 24:
Performing Arts:
U9 – First place went to Carly Berylene Corben (Gauteng), followed by second place Zelni Venter (Gauteng) and third place winner Larochelle Schade (Mpumalanga)
U11 – Gauteng took the win with Niane Smith in first place, Lily Bradley in second and third place Lilly Jane Scott.

Rhythm and Movement:
U9 – Laikyn Boyce (Mpumalanga) took first place followed by second place winner Carly Berylene Corben (Gauteng) and third place Larochelle Schade (Mpumalanga).
U11 – Lavela Mnyaka (Mpumalanga) claimed her first place victory, followed by second place Chanel Grobler (Mpumalanga) and Nina Smith (Gauteng) taking third place.
U7 – Melandie Faber (Mpumalanga) came in first place with Mioné Beelders (Mpumalanga) second and third place Leja Viljoen (Mpumalanga).

Latin:
U9 – First place went to Zelni Venter (Gauteng) followed by second place Carly Berylene Corben (Gauteng) and third place Larochelle Schade (Mpumalanga).
U11 – Roxanne Bland (Gauteng) claimed first place victory with second place going to Niane Smith (Gauteng) followed by third place winner Lavela Mnyaka (Mpumalanga).

Street:
U9 – Zelni Venter (Gauteng) came in first place, with second place Mikayla Smit (Mpumalanga) and third place Caitlyn Hayward (Mpumalanga).
U11 – First place went to Chanel Grobler (Mpumalanga) with second place winner Lavela Mnyaka (Mpumalanga), followed by third place Lily Bradley (Gauteng).
U7 – Mpumalanga dominated the win in this age group category with Melandie Faber taking first place, followed by second place Liené van Jaarsveld and Mioné Beelders in third place.

Saturday, September 25:

Performing Arts:
U13 – Yana Snyman (Gauteng) came in first place followed by second place Hunter Ellinas (Gauteng) and third place Mielan Prinsloo (Mpumalanga).
U15 – Gauteng claimed victory with first place Yana Snyman, second place Hunter Ellinas and third place Claudia Taute.

Rhythm and Movement:
U13 – Yana Snyman (Gauteng) took first place followed by second place Hunter Ellinas (Gauteng) and third place Mielan Prinsloo (Mpumalanga).
U15 – First place went to Venessa Sonnen (Gauteng) with second place winner Arnel Swart (Gauteng) and third place going to Jemma Laubscher (Mpumalanga).

Latin:
U13 – First place was claimed by Yana Snyman (Gauteng) followed by second place Remofilwe Leeuw (Mpumalanga) and third place Hunter Ellinas (Gauteng).
U15 – Gauteng again took the lead in this age group and catigory with Vanessa Sonnen taking first place followed by second place Yana Snyman and third place winner Arnel Swart.

Street:
U13 – Remofilwe Leeuw (Mpumalanga) danced her way to first place victory followed by second place Lashé Wesso (Mpumalanga) and third place Yana Snyman (Gauteng).
U15 – First place went to Vanessa Sonnen (Gauteng) with second place winner Mia Hodson-Hoare (Mpumalanga) and third place Arnel Swart (Gauteng).

Open Performing Arts:
Diané van Rooyen (Mpumalanga) claim first place, followed by Nicole Potgieter (Gauteng) and third place Johnke Prinsloo (Mpumalanga).

Open Boys Performing Arts:
The Mpumalanga Boys did exceptional well in this category claiming all spots. First place went to Constantino Do O Faustino with second place going to Conrad Powell and third place to Gabriel Delgado.

Boys Rhythm and Movement:
U11 – Corné Olivier (Mpumalanga) came in first place with Bagriel Delgado (Mpumalanga) second and third place Sandile Jr Mashiyane (Gauteng).
U13 – First place went to Vukosi Hlungwani (Mpumalanga), followed by second place Malwandla Hlungwani (Mpumalanga) and third place Altus Liebenberg (Mpumalanga).

Open Rhythm and Movement:
First place went to Diané van Rooyen (Mpumalanga) with second place going to Vanessa Sonnen (Gauteng) and third place to Pabalelo Makutu (Mpumalanga).

Open Boys Rhythm and Movement:
Mpumalanga again dominated the category with Conrad Powell claiming first place followed by second place Shaun Maloka and third Michael Botha.

Open Latin:
First place went to Malindi Mthethwa (Mpumalanga) with second place winner Diané van Rooyen (Mpumalanga) and third place Vanessa Sonnen (Gauteng).

Open Boys Latin:
Constantino Do O Faustino (Mpumalanga) took first place, Conrad Powell (Mpumalanga) took second place and Gabriel Delgado (Mpumalanga) third.

Boys Street:
U11 – First was Gabriel Delgado (Mpumalanga) followed by second place Sandile jr Mashiyane (Gauteng) and third place Corné Olivier (Mpumalanga)
U13 – Malwandla Hlungwani (Mpumalanga) came in first with Vukosi Hlungwani (Mpumalanga) second and André Faber in third.

Open Boys Street:
First place went to Shaun Maloka (Mpumalanga) followed by second place Muzi Mnisi (Mpumalanag) and third place Conrad Powell.

Open Street:
Maindi Mthethwa (Mpumalanga) took first place victory with Tshegofatso Selebogo (Mpumalanga) coming in second place and followed by third place Pabealelo Makutu (Mpumalanga).The dancers also received their official recognised provincial colours approved by the sport confederation.

This organisation is also the first organisation in South Africa that did African Dance as a competitive dance.
