Sasol Rugby Club kicks off the season
The club is hosting a school training session at 09:00 on February 1 at the Sasol Recreation Club in Secunda. This session is open to all primary school learners of Secunda and the surrounding towns who would like to develop their skills.
Sasol Rugby Club kicks off their new season with great excitement and anticipation.
With a rich history of producing local talent dating back to 1980, the club is looking forward to making a strong impact in this year’s tournaments while celebrating its 45th year of existence.
Under the guidance of the newly appointed coaches and management team, the players have been working hard since early this year to enhance their skills and build on last year’s accomplishments.
Lucas Meiring is the head coach. He will be assisted by William Pretorius, Anwar Fillis, Toby Molefe and Jan-Divan Preuyt.
The new committee comprises Theuns Krüger as chairman, Johann Veldman as vice-chairman, Mariëtte Krüger as secretary, Johan Kruger as treasurer, Rudolf Pretorius and Werno Smit as club captains, Casandra Pretorius as social media assistant, Wynand Schoeman as team manager and sponsor assistant and Ruan Groenewald as additional member.
With a combination of seasoned players and newcomers, the squad is also looking good.
Sasol Rugby Club has a long history of involvement in the Secunda community.
Some of the players are teachers at the local schools and serve as role models for the youth.

The club is also grateful for the ongoing support of local businesses and sponsors and is looking forward to a successful season, both on and off the field.
If you want to join the team, the Sasol Recreation Club is the place to be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:00.
Sasol Rugby Club’s first tournament for the year will be the Castle Lager Club League.
The debut match is scheduled for early February and will be played against Naka—one to look forward to.
Some of the top clubs from the Bulls, Falcons, Limpopo, and Sasol Club have committed to play in this elite competition.
Louis Trichardt from Limpopo, one of Sasol Club’s opponents in the 2024 Gold Cup, is also part of the competition.
