Sasol Rugby Club’s victory ensures semi-finals are played in Secunda
The semi-finals will be played at the Sasol Rugby Club this Saturday.
Sasol Rugby Club in Secunda beat Witbank on Saturday to make it through to the provincial semi-finals this weekend.
Sasol’s first team beat Witbank 43-5 in a heart-stopping game on Saturday.
The game offered spectacular try-scoring and spot on kicking by Tian Steyn through out the match.
Dalton Smit was the first to score for Sasol, which Steyn converted. He also succeeded with a penalty kick.
A high flying Gcobani Vula secured a try in the corner which he followed up with another under the ruby poles.
The half-time score was 24-0 for Sasol.
Witbank was the first to plant a try, but their kicker was unable to convert the try, changing the score to 24-5.
In the second half, WJ Lourens scored two tries and Bowen Bezuidenhout’s air-borne moment to score a try beneath the goal posts made for a great photo. Bezuidenhout was awarded Man of the Match.
The team will take on White River in the Premier League’s semi-finals in Secunda on June 21. Sasol 2 also beat Witbank with 24-7. The Man of the Match was Devin Smith.
The 2nd team will also tackle their counterparts from White River on Saturday.
Sasol 3 beat Witbank with a whopping 53-5, with Jano van der Merwe as Man of the Match.
They will face off against TUT on Saturday.
