According to the organisers the purpose of the Golf Day was to raise funds for the club to ensure the maintenance to their four facilities that the club utilized during the season, Cecil Payne Stadium and Florida Park High could be done.

Football icon Stanton “Stiga” Fredericks was also spotted on the course as well as a few young Lions cricketers Codi Yusuf, Sebastian De Olivera, Ronan Hermann and Dean Tindall.

“We would like to thank the community and sponsors for supporting our Golf Day, it was a huge success,” said Club Chairperson Faizel Sallie.

Sallie said that the day was a huge success, not just financially but was also an opportunity for old friends and ex-players to meet up again.

The attendance of the Lions Cricket Board member, Jono Leaf-Wright was a highlight of the Golf Day Awards.

Delfos has seen growth since unification in 1992 and is the only club remaining in its original form since unification.

Faizel Sallie was instrumental in the establishment of a junior program in 1994 – the club has never looked back and has grown to be a club with five junior teams and six senior teams.

Delfos Cricket Club 1st team is participating in the Premier League of Gauteng Cricket Board.

“Thank you to everyone that attended our Golf Day, it was amazing and the support was phenomenal.

“Special thank you to Lee-Anne Smith for ensuring a successful and smooth running of the event not forgetting Carmen Peters and Laaiqah Govender for assisting with the event,” said Sallie.
