Football fanatics gear up for the new season

Panorama FC kicks off its new season by hosting trials for eager football fanatics.

The new season kicked off at Panorama Football Club with a burst of excitement and energy.

Football Youth Academy trials commenced at the club on January 13 at 09:00. The club has five different fields which also include an indoor arena where occasional tournaments and games take place. They enable both girls and boys of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to learn and develop from our cutting-edge coaching and development programmes thanks to their excellent facilities and ongoing club expansion.

They participate in the Local Football Association (LPA) leagues, as well as the Gauteng Development League (GDL) which is their U13, U14, and U17 boys. This league allows them to participate in the league where they play against the likes of Supersport and Sundowns which aims to not only improve the skills of the players but also allow them to get scouted by the football clubs or training camps from a young age.

On January 13, they hosted trials for the GDL league for young boys to select teams. During training sessions, a subset of players will be invited for an additional assessment. Their U14 – 16 girls participate in the Gauteng Women’s Development League allowing them to grow as individual players and have that provincial experience to play for higher-performance clubs. The ladies’ teams also participate in the Johannesburg South regional league and have grown from three to five teams run by Greg Green who also has two daughters who are also a part of the teams.

“Players register and pay a subscription fee to be a part of the club and play tournaments. Since we are still a development club, we try to accommodate parents who are unable to financially cater for their children’s fees by providing sponsors only for those parents who cannot afford,” Greg mentioned.

The club also participates in the Hollywood Bets League in Johannesburg South and one of their teams was taking part in a local derby against the Randburg team on the same day as the trials to start their pre-season training.

The coaches feel very confident about the upcoming season since there was an increase in the number of children who came for trials this year. The championships and Gauteng leagues are expected to kick off in March and the local leagues will start in April with the season going on until November. So, expect to see very high and eager energies on the field this upcoming season, and be on the lookout for local upcoming games to show your support.
