Crawford International Ruimsig matrics talk about being president

Crawford International Ruimsig matriculants believe they would bring change if they were president for a day.

The Independent Electoral Committee welcomed the president’s election date announcement setting the national and provincial elections to be on May 29.

The Roodepoort Northsider visited Crawford International Ruimsig and asked matriculants the question, “What would you do if you were the president of the country?”

Here are the responses:

Rinae Manyikane said, “I would first decrease the unemployment rate by getting people to work on road construction jobs and train more people to become police officers to decrease the crime rate.”

Roscoe Botha.

Roscoe Botha also said, “I would try to crack down the level of corruption taking place in our country and try to give matriculants enough time for their submissions.”

Jason de Kock.

Jason de Kock has other thoughts and said, “I would make sure on Fridays we cancel school and work nationwide and dedicate this day to cleaning our country make it look good as it was then bless my people with an ice cream.”

Nothando Kgaladi.

Nothando Kgaladi is more serious and said, “I would try to resolve energy crises that South Africa is battling, hand in hand also tackle unemployment rate by hiring freshly graduated students.”

Zwivhuya Maanda.

Zwivhuya Maanda said, “I would make sure that all women are safe because the are high statistics on GBV and try to have campaigns that empower women. Lastly, I would make sure that load-shedding ends.”

Michael Botha.

Michael Botha would try to make education more accessible by working on utilities, saying “Students will need to attend online classes if there’s a basic needs disturbance such as water shortages, etc.”

Baatseba Matlala.

Baatseba Matlala would increase youth employment because ‘I believe there’s no one in parliament or high government positions that can accurately represent our voice in creating regulations and laws for the country’.
