Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series’ first Strava Challenge of 2023

According to the organisers, the goal of the Strava Challenges is to help runners get active in the build up to the 2023 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series events.

The Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series’ first Strava Challenge of 2023, the RUN.CLIMB.RUN Challenge will take place on Sunday, January 22.

Just by taking part, runners will stand a chance to win a prize compliments of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series and its footwear and apparel partner, PUMA South Africa.

“We’re excited to welcome runners from across the country to take on the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series’ first Strava Challenge of 2023,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Series Founder.

According to the organisers, the goal of the Strava Challenges is to help runners get active in the build up to the 2023 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series events.

“The RUN.CLIMB.RUN Challenge is a great challenge to start off the year. It’s slightly tougher and guarantees to get runners out of their comfort zones,” said Meyer.

Runners have from 5am till 11pm on Sunday to complete the RUN.CLIMB.RUN Challenge and can choose their own location and route.

The organisers are looking for the runner that clocks the most amount of climbing, irrespective of the distance run.

“We don’t mind whether you run with friends, or choose to go solo, run hill repeats in your neighbourhood or enjoy a scenic mountain adventure, as long as you get moving and do some serious climbing,” added Meyer.

The five runners that clock the most climbing on the day will go into a lucky draw, a pair of PUMA NITRO running shoes is up for grabs.

How to join Challenge #1 / RUN.CLIMB.RUN Challenge:

• Runners are to “join” the RUN YOUR CITY Series Running Club on Strava: https://www.strava.com/clubs/rycs.

• If runners have not done so yet, they will need to create a Strava Account before they can join the club.

• Runners are to join RUN.CLIMB.RUN event on the RUN YOUR CITY Series Running Club by clicking on the orange “I’m in” button displayed next to the Event listing.

• Runners must record their run using a smart phone (Android or iPhone device) or smart watch (Garmin, TomTom, Suunto, Fitbit, Polar etc.)

• Runners must share their elevation gain, activities, pictures, and routes to the RUN YOUR CITY Series Strava Club page.

• All activities logged during the event period must be uploaded to Strava no later than 23:00 on Sunday, January 22.

The winner will be selected by random draw and announced on the RUN YOUR CITY Series Running Club page on Monday, January 23.
