Young bowling star on the roll

Young upcoming star dominates various local competitions and is ready for the international stage.

The Witpoortjie Bowling Club is home to a young rising star named Tlotso Mocumi. At just 16, Tlotso has shown immense talent and determination in the world of bowling.

In the past two years since joining the club, Tlotso has dominated various competitions at club, district, provincial, and national levels in his age group and is ready for the international field. He has even claimed victory at the U15 National Championships and the Sports Festival South Africa. Since then, he has dedicated countless hours to sharpening his technique and skills with the help of his coach, Brian Oxley.

Brian says there is no doubt that Tlotso has a bright future ahead of him, and he sees that through their rigorous two-hour training sessions every week.

“You can teach someone to bowl in six hours minimum, but psychology, skills, attitude, passion, and unwavering dedication are what makes a great player,” Brain said.

Looking ahead, Tlotso and his coach are preparing for the District Junior Championships and the Gauteng Junior Championships scheduled to take place in June. With aspirations to compete on the international stage like the Commonwealth Games, he is driven to excel and make a name for himself in the bowling world.

For Tlotso, bowling is more than just a sport – it’s a passion and a form of therapy.
