ORT SA takes school development to Alexandra

ALEXANDRA – ORT SA Facilitator, Percy Nkosi launched the ORT SA Whole School Development Programme at the East Bank High School in Alexandra recently.

About 50 teachers attended a module on discipline, the first of nine modules offered during the programme which are based on criteria set out by the Gauteng Education Department. Topics covered included, corrective teaching, crisis behaviour and pro-active teaching.

Reactions from the teachers to the workshop were positive. School principal Isaac Thloloe said, “The teachers will become empowered, especially with the teacher evaluation process coming up, soon.” The workshops will be held at all six high schools in Alexandra.

Nkosi said, ”I am very excited that ORT SA will be able to make some changes and add value in the classroom. This programme is going to change lives.”
