UPDATE: Woolworths responds to second frog found in salad

JOBURG - When will Woolworths stop packaging little wild creatures?

UPDATE: 4 December 2014, 10am – Since the second ‘frog in the salad’ incident, Woolworths has responded.

After a link from City Buzz was shared to Woolworths SA on Facebook about the second frog found in a Woolies salad, they have since responded on Facebook that the customer was contacted and the incident is under investigation.

Woolworths also made reference to the customer who was reported to have found a cockroach in their noodles and said, “With regards to the ‘cockroach’ incident, the outcome of the investigation was that it was a piece of peeled, diced fresh ginger.”

Woolworths has been contacted for a response, but remain uncommunicative.

Initial report: 2 December 2014, 10:45am – Not two weeks after the cockroach in the noodles saga, which followed the frog in the salad saga, the food retailer has yet another critter packaged in their food – which at this point must even have loyal Woolies shoppers questioning the hygiene standards of the food franchise.

The third disgruntled Woolworths shopper took to Twitter on 30 November to let the world know about a live frog that was found in a salad he purchased. Gabrielle, from the Twitter handle ?@misterbigsays, tweeted: @WOOLWORTHS_SA there is a live frog in my sealed rosa salad….it’s literally moving around. Top right.

Woolworths has contacted the shopper, but has not yet made a public statement and has been unavailable for comment.

Twitter users are divided, with some saying that it’s not a big deal and others still in awe of the incidents.

What do you think of the third creepy-crawly to be found packaged in Woolworths food?
