CHRISTMAS IN JULY

COMPETITION
Not only are you in for loads of fun – you also have a chance of winning great prizes while supporting a good cause.
This year the community has chosen The Living Link as its main charity.
All you have to do to enter and to help out is to ‘spot the Grinch’ at the fair to find out more.
The programmes are life skills and work-experience based, and focus on the following areas:
• Employment orientation
• Personal empowerment
• Lifestyle management
• Community survival
• Budgeting and basic finance.
Job sampling placements during the training year allow the students the opportunity to experience different types of jobs and the realities of the working world.
Here is just some info on The Living Link:
The Living Link is a non-profit organisation that caters to the disabled community regardless of race, gender and religious background.
The centre aims to encourage, enhance and support the development of intellectually disabled adults, and help them attain a high quality of life.
Students at The Living Link complete either the one-year adult integration programme or eight month work-readiness programme. This is aimed at integrating them into society, both in the workplace and in the community.
The Living Link seeks to place graduates into open labour market employment by implementing the ‘supported employment’ model.
Adults with disabilities are placed in ordinary working environments, doing regular work where salaries and benefits are real and reflect work performance.
The Living Link provides placement support and ongoing job coaching and training to both employer and employee.
Give back: Donation spots for the SPCA and the Great Dane Rescue are available.
