WALKING TOUR ‘SAINT CHARLES – 400 YEARS ON – A SIXTIES ICON AND WINDOWS TO DIE FOR’

our centuries later, during Vatican II (another upheaval in Catholic history) a church was built in Johannesburg and named after Saint Charles.  It is often known as ‘’The Lemon Squeezer’’, and has become a landmark in Victory Park.  Its artwork and its unusual architecture and construction all merit a visit – but there is an added bonus; in 2003 the frosted windows around the church were replaced with a magnificent set of stained glass windows, a true addition to our city’s artistic heritage.  Don’t miss this iconic church and its treasures.

Meet Ed Coogan and Winnie Job on Saturday, 7th June at 1.00 pm – PLEASE NOTE EARLY STARTING TIME.  Park at St Charles Church, 35 Road No 3, Victory Park – there is plenty of off-road parking available.  Cost is R90.00 for members and R120.00 for non-members – which includes a donation to the Church.
