We Got U Bokke campaign launches in support of the Springboks
HYDE PARK – MTN launched the We Got U Bokke campaign in support of the Springboks in the upcoming Rugby World Cup.
The Springboks, with the help of their sponsors MTN, hosted the launch of the WeGotU Bokke campaign in Hyde Park ahead of the Rugby World Cup.
At the launch, players and fans had the opportunity to gather and garner support for the team before they leave for Japan in September to compete in the world cup.
Former Springbok player Bakkies Botha said he was confident that the team would do what it takes to win the cup. He believed there would be some surprise teams this year aside from the usual favourites such as the All Blacks.
“I truly believe the Springboks have got the players to go all the way and as long as we as a nation stand behind them and support them all the way, hopefully, they can bring that lovely cup back to South Africa.”
Mapula Bodibe, consumer business unit executive at MTN South Africa said, “We are beyond proud to be the brand behind the Springboks as they take on what is set to be the most competitive rugby event yet, with many teams vying for the biggest prize ever. For us, rugby is about more than just the game, it is a means to unite a nation under a common goal.”
Mark Alexander, president of the South African Rugby Union, urged South Africans to show their support for the Boks by getting involved in the campaign activities.
“Each time that our team plays, they will know they can count on the backing of our passionate, sports-loving nation, thanks to the MTN WeGotU Bokke campaign,” said Alexander.
Former Springbok player Akona Ndungane said injuries have played a role in the performance of the team, however, he said it was good to see younger players putting up their hands and taking up challenges.
“I’m looking forward to it [the world cup] and I’m sure the guys will do us proud there.”
