Rethink business

ROSEBANK – Businesses need to find innovative ways of operating in order to keep millennials engaged.

A lifestyle focused work environment is not just a term coined by millennials. It is a system designed to assist businesses to survive in this new era.

Tetris, a design and build fit-out specialist, has offered their advice to local business owners who are looking to bring in a fresh new look to their offices.

Evolving technology is enabling businesses to do so much more than ever before and work from just about anywhere. So, business owners do not necessarily need bricks and mortar to build their company anymore.

Flexible hours and rotating desks are just some of the suggestions.

Rosebank Killarney Gazette met with the two ladies at the helm of the company, managing director Emma Luyt and Robyn Gray, associate director for Tétris.

“It’s the decade of collaboration apps and big buzz concepts like mobility and remote working,” said Luyt.

Businesses need to keep in mind that rebranding their offices can mean maximum brand exposure and the end result could be cost-effective. “The new-age digital office means staff can get more done without the distraction of ringing phones and constant interruptions from colleagues.”

Gray said rebranding is also good for staff retention and morale. “Millennials in the modern workforce means more open-plan coffee-shop style environments. These super social and adept multi-taskers like tech bedecked meeting hubs, acoustic pods, and even working from treadmills or barber shop chairs is not an unusual request these days,” said Gray.

“To achieve the perfect balance for your company, stop thinking of an office as a fixed physical space but as a broader theoretical workspace that encompasses all of the places where work gets done.”
