Three UJ students busted with drugs

NORWOOD - Three University of Johannesburg (UJ) students were found to be in possession of drugs in Orange Grove.

According to a Norwood police report, the police were conducting their routine patrols when they stopped and searched a VW Polo Classic, with three occupants in 12th Street.

Station Commander Colonel Zoleka Kuboni said the police ordered the occupants out of the car and searched them and the car. Kuboni said, “The police found illegal substances hidden in one of the occupant’s underwear.”

She said the suspect told the police that the parcel belonged to all three of them. They were arrested for possession of a drug substance. Kuboni said the substance would be sent to forensics for verification. The students were aged between 22 and 23.

They were expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court.
