Men nabbed with car-breaking tools
PARKVIEW - Two men were arrested by Parkview police for possession of car-breaking implements at Johannesburg Botanic Garden, Emmarentia.
The arrest took place when police members were on patrol near the corner of Beyers Naude Drive and Thomas Bowler Street.
According to Parkview police spokesperson Princess Mudau, the area was known as a motor vehicle theft and theft out of motor vehicle hot spot.
“While driving, the (police) members noticed two men going to the parking lot where lots of cars had been parked. The members stopped the men and asked to search them,” said Mudau.
An allen key, that had been sharpened on both sides, was found on one of them. When questioned about its use, neither man replied.
The men were arrested and were taken to the Parkview station. Police found that the second man had an outstanding case for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
Both men were expected to appear in court soon.
