KILLARNEY – Joburg Child Welfare will hold a fundraising event for vulnerable children on 29 October at Killarney Country Club.

The proceeds of the fundraiser will be channelled into the Child Abuse Treatment and Training Centre, a non-profit organisation set up to offer therapeutic services to children who have been sexually abused.

Riaan Manser will be the guest speaker at the event.

Manser’s feats include paddling 5000km in eleven months to become the first person to circumnavigate Madagascar by kayak.

He is also the first person to cycle around Africa: he pedalled 37 000km through 34 countries, some of which are war-zones.

Manser’s book, Around Africa on my Bicycle is a bestseller.

He also battled Arctic elements with partner Dan Skinstad, paddling 2300km in five months in a double kayak to circumnavigate Iceland.
