According to police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji the suspects robbed a shop in Muller Street and took an undisclosed amount

of cash. Malatji said, “The suspects assaulted the owner on the head with a bottle and when he screamed they ran

away.”

He said community members managed to apprehend one suspect and the police were called. “Further investigation led to the arrest of the remaining two

suspects at the corner of Hopkins and Cavendish streets.”

Malatji added that the police recovered an unlicensed firearm and the serial number had been filed off. “An additional charge of unlicensed firearm was added.” They were expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court to face charges of robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
