Police contradicts a front page story by The Star
JOBURG - HILLBROW police have repudiated claims that a man was arrested for assaulting the mother of his child whom he found in bed with another man.

This contradicts a front page story by The Star on 20 November about a naked man who plunged out of a sixth floor window at The Lloyd flats on the corner Claim and Paul Nel streets in Hillbrow.
The report indicated that the man “was being held at Hillbrow Police Station”. But according to the station’s spokesperson Constable Mduduzi Zondo, an assault case had not been reported. Zondo also rejected claims that the deceased was 16 years old, “He was between the ages of 24 and 25”.
Police said the deceased was allegedly the boyfriend of a woman who was mother to a 13-year-old son by another man. The man allegedly went to the flat and found the mother of his child in bed with the deceased.
Zondo said the man began to assault the woman. “The deceased tried to flee the scene and because the scuffle was happening by the door, the deceased tried to escape through the window,” said Zondo. The window was on the sixth floor and the man fell to his death, naked.
Another occupant of the flat who was allegedly in the bathroom when the ordeal occurred, is quoted as saying, “I dressed up and came out quickly and I saw her leaning over the window screaming ‘he fell! he’s dead!’.”
Paramedics declared him dead on the scene and police have opened an inquest docket and a post-mortem should determine the cause of death.
