YEOVILLE - Police arrested three suspects for allegedly being in possession of stolen property on Mons Street.

According to police, they were alerted to the suspects via a tip-off. Police spokesperson Thabo Malatji said that when the police arrived at the scene, they found three men inside the house. Malatji said, “The suspects identified themselves and in the process one of the suspects took out a screwdriver and tried to stab the police.”

He said the police managed to apprehend him and arrested the other two suspects who tried to run away. Malatji added the police found appliances in the house which the suspects could not account for. Police also found cellphones, believed to be stolen, and money hidden in the kitchen.

The suspects were taken to Yeoville Police Station and the property was booked. The suspects are expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s
