Artists up-cycle for group exhibition

MABONENG PRECINCT - A new group exhibition at Rubixcube Gallery offers visitors objects and ideas that have been re-used and reconstituted in artistic ways.

Up-psycle plays on the recently-coined term ‘up-cycling’, and features works by Kiki, Frederick Clarke, Sbonelo Dumakude and Stefanie Schoeman.

“Up-cycling [is] the idea of reusing an object or reconstituting a series of objects in a fashionable or innovative way,” said the gallery’s Mike Kaplan.

“Up-psycling moves along that same trajectory, applying it to ideas and objects simultaneously; from bicycle chains cast in concrete to a collection of stones from the Karoo, sculptured into a mesmerising, floating landscape.”

Up-psycle will run until 23 March at Rubixcube Gallery, 264 Fox Street, Arts on Main, Maboneng Precinct.
