Fugitive robbery suspect nabbed
POLICE arrested a man in connection with a business robbery which took place in Yeoville.
According to police the suspect allegedly committed the crime on 24 February at a business on the corner of Webb Street and Grafton Road. Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said it was alleged that two suspects pretended to be customers and held the employees at gunpoint. Malatji said, “The suspects took money and personal belongings from the employees and left the scene of the crime, and had been on the run since then.”
Malatji said the police made sure that no stone was left unturned which led to the arrest of the suspect in Yeoville. He said, “Through information from a member of the public police managed to apprehend the suspect.”
He said he was grateful to members of the public who were always ready to help in combating crime in the area. The 28-year-old suspect was expected to appear at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of business robbery.
