Colour festival line-up, theme announced
JOBURG - The organisers of the We Are One Colour Festival have announced the line-up and theme for this year's festival, to take place at Emmarentia Dam.
A line-up of top DJs will bring the beats to the fairytale carnival-themed party, known for the clouds of coloured powder that fill the air throughout the day.
Event promoter Darryn Lee said that last year’s sold-out festival saw attendees enjoy a day of laughter and fun amidst eight tonnes of brightly coloured powder.
“This year, Penthouse, Michael Lesar, Matt Suttner, Mix n Blend and Maoriginal will join the godfather of South African house music, Oskido, on stage to round off a top-notch local line-up,” he said.
“The day will be closed off by [an] amazing and colourful set by the legendary Felix Da Housecat.”
Lee said this year’s fairytale carnival theme, chosen by the festival’s Facebook community, would allow fans to let their imaginations run wild.
“Get your white outfits ready with a fairytale twist to stand out from the rest as you are showered with coloured powder from all directions. Think about what your favourite fairytale character would wear to the Mardi Gras carnival with all the beaded necklaces, extravagant hats and outrageous outfits that go with it,” he said.
The coloured powder, imported from Germany, is environmentally-friendly, and has been stringently tested to ensure it is safe to party with.
Place in the Sun, the festival’s official wine sponsor, is a producer of Fairtrade certified wines.
The We Are One Colour Festival will take place on 22 March at Emmarentia Dam, Olifants Road, Emmarentia.
The ticket price includes five bags of coloured powder, but should that not be enough for colour enthusiasts, bags of powder will be sold at the event.
