Three armed robbers nabbed

Three suspects were arrested in alleged separate cases of armed robberies in Yeoville.

In one incident, police said the victim was walking in Raymond Street when he was confronted by three men armed with knives. Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said, “They robbed him of his cellphone and when they fled the scene the victim saw police and reported the matter. The police arrested two of the suspects and the third suspect escaped.” Malatji said the two suspects were taken to the police station.

He said in another incident, the complainant was walking home in Hunter Street when he was robbed of his cellphone by a man carrying a knife. Malatji said police saw the robbery and immediately arrested the suspect on the scene and the victim’s property was recovered. He said the suspect was arrested.

The suspects were expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court facing charges of armed robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon.
