Dagga siezed from pupil at school
JOBURG - Police seized dagga from a pupil at a school in Highlands North in a joint operation by Norwood police, the police dog unit and Metro police.
Upon further investigation the police traced a drug den to Atholl Road in Highlands North. According to Norwood police spokesperson Constable Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane, the police arrested two suspects at the residence in possession of dagga, nyaope and a powdery substance which police believe might be an illegal substance.
Tsoanyane said, “The police arrested a man and a woman for dealing and being in possession of drugs and the police seized the substances.”
She stated that the police’s mission was to eradicate the use of drugs at schools and curb violence after a spate of violent incidents occurred at schools around the country. “We are happy with the outcome and we will continue fighting for a drug-free South Africa,” she said.
She said the two alleged drug dealers were expected to appear at the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court facing charges of dealing with and being in possession of drugs.
