ORT SA team finishes the Jerusalem Marathon

Many Unity challenge runners from Johannesburg and Cape Town completed the Jerusalem Marathon and Half-Marathon on 21 March.

“The trip was a massive success with all involved having an unforgettable experience, ” said Nicci Raz of ORT SA.

The runners enjoyed an unique experience in Jerusalem and visited many historical landmarks on the pre-race tour, which added another dimension to their run.

“It was a privilege to be part of such a unique campaign and I really enjoyed working with Rabbi Ramon Widmonte (Mizrachi) and Ben Swartz (SAZF) on this project,” said Raz.

“Together we managed to create a great experience and raise much needed funds for the charities involved. Thanks to all the runners, generous corporate sponsors and individual donors who helped make this campaign a massive success.”

One of the runners Ben Swartz said, “Running the first 15 kilometers of a marathon with legend, Bruce Fordyce is a once-in-a-lifetime chance that will stick with me forever.”

Post race the runners dined under the stars in an ancient ruin in the Old City where Fordyce entertained the team with his many humorous marathon experiences.
