Men break into Killarney home

TWO men were arrested after breaking into a flat in Killarney.

According to Hillbrow spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo, six men allegedly entered one of the flats in the complex on the corner of 3rd Street and 4th Avenue.

“Inside the home, the men stole car keys, a laptop and a cellphone before leaving the flat,” he said.

“The men then made their way to the building’s basement in an attempt to steal the car to which they had found the keys.”

Zondo said although the men managed to open the car they were unable to start it.

“Hoping to still get away with the vehicle, the men, under false pretences, asked if the security guard could help them,” he added.

“Suspecting something was wrong, the security guard called for help from other security companies.”

Of the six men, four managed to get away and two were apprehended.

“Only the car keys were recovered and the two men are facing charges of break-in and theft,” said Zondo.

“It is not yet clear how the men gained entry to the flat as there were no visible signs of forced entry. The incident is still being investigated.”
