Thieves bust stripping vehicle in hospital basement
Through a tracker system, the Hillbrow police and the tracker personnel managed to track a bakkie which was stolen at Melrose Arch and find two suspects stripping the vehicle in the basement of Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.

Police officers from Hillbrow Police Station, as well as Tracker officials, followed a signal from a tracking device, and upon arrival found two suspects stripping the vehicle.
According to police, the complainant told them that his Toyota Hilux double cab was parked and locked at Melrose Arch when it was stolen. Hillbrow police spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo said the suspects used a jamming device.
Zondo said, “The suspects drove the car to the basement of the hospital. We followed signals from the tracking device and found the car there with the two men busy stripping it.”
Zondo said the police arrested the two suspects who he said were in possession of a jamming device and two Toyota ignition keys. The suspects, who are both 37 years old, are expected to appear at Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
