The incident took place at the corner of Raleigh Street and Bedford Road. According to police, they received a call from the Metro police who witnessed the incident through CCTV footage, showing the suspects in the act of breaking into the fast food outlet.

Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said the police proceeded to the scene and found two men in action breaking the security gate of the premises.

Malatji said, “Police then apprehended the suspects and detained them in Yeoville Police Station for breaking into a business premises.”

Meanwhile in another incident, police arrested a man for being in possession of a stolen compressor machine in Yeoville at the corner of Natal and Bezuidenhout streets.

The police received a lookout message over the police radio for a brown Toyota Hilux used in a business robbery in the Sandringham area. Malatji said the police noticed the vehicle in Yeoville towing a compressor that was taken during the robbery in Sandringham. He said police stopped the suspect, arrested him and detained him at Yeoville Police Station for being in possession of stolen property; later he would be linked to the business robbery that was committed in Sandringham.

The suspects from both incidents were expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
