Local lad completes Berg River Marathon

ROSEBANK - Local lad, Gerhard Moolman finished in the top 50 of the Berg River Marathon.

The marathon takes place annually from Paarl in the Western Cape to Velddrift, traversing through some of the most scenic landscapes in South Africa for a distance of some 240km.

The river race is a four day event which started on 16 July, and attracted more than 150 of the strongest paddlers in the country to pit their physical and mental endurance against the elements. With the shortest distance of the four legs being 46km and the longest 75km, only the mentally determined and physically tough could complete this challenging competition.

Bedraggled paddlers dragged themselves across the daily finish line with blistered fingers and stiff muscles from the cold and extreme conditions..
