Police arrest 135 suspects in weekend blitz

Hillbrow cluster police are beaming with confidence following a successful weekend operation as they arrested 135 suspects.

The cluster spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said the cluster held a “very successful anti-crime blitz”. Malatji said, “The suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from car hijacking, possession of hijacked motor vehicles, possession of drugs, rape, robbery, theft out of motor vehicle, assault, driving while under the influence of alcohol, domestic violence, possession of suspected stolen property, theft and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.”

He added that most of the suspects were expected to appear in the Hillbrow and Jeppe magistrate’s courts soon. Hillbrow cluster consists of eight police stations which are Hillbrow, Norwood, Yeoville, Rosebank, Parkview, Cleveland, Jeppe and Linden.
