Two men arrested for business burglary

TWO MEN were arrested in Kew for a burglary at business premises.

According to Bramley police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, security guards responding to an alarm at the corner of 2nd Avenue and London Road found one of the suspects trying to hide from the officers outside the building.

“When the security officer apprehended him, he revealed that he was not alone, but with a friend who was still inside the building,” said Maphakela.

He added that when the officer went inside, he found another suspect hiding behind a door in one of the offices.

The officer and his colleagues recovered items hidden by the suspects behind the building’s fence.

Maphakela said, “These were different types of paint, including a cover coat, wall and ceiling premium acrylic and wall guard worth R7 000.”

Police were called to the scene and took the suspects into custody.

The incident took place in the early hours of 18 August.

He urged members of the community to refrain from buying stolen goods. “If people buy these items, they are creating a market for these criminals and as a result, we will not be able to win the fight against crime,” said Maphakela.

At the time of going to press, the suspects were in police custody and were due to appear in court soon.
