Exhibiting artists’ personal voices at Bailey Gallery
ARTS ON MAIN - Artists, Liebner-Anthony van Zyl and Celeste von Solms held a two-person exhibition titled Personal Voices at the Bailey Gallery.
The two bodies of work exhibited engaged with perspectives of the human condition.
While Von Solms is primarily a drawing artist working on paper, and Van Zyl works primarily as a painter, their artistic sensibilities are very much in sync.
Liebner-Anthony van Zyl graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art from the Tshwane University of Technology in 2011 and has exhibited in a series of group shows. He was selected as a finalist of the Art Lovers 1932 competition.
Van Zyl’s work uses the human form, in particular the face, to reflect his personal interpretation of the human condition. Working primarily with oil on canvas he has a monochromatic colour pallet that evokes a quiet unease.
Von Solms also graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art from the Tshwane University of technology in 2011 and has exhibited in a selection of group exhibitions.
She works in pencil with subtle areas of colour created with conté to enhance an expressive emotion in her work.
Von Solms has a fascination with the human form which she expresses in her work.
The Bailey Gallery is situated at Arts on Main in the heart of Johannesburg’s CBD.
