R500 000 worth of drugs confiscated
YEOVILLE – A tip-off from the public led police to confiscate R500 000 worth of drugs and the arrest of two suspects in Yeoville.
According to police the arrest took place at a house on the corner of Grafton Road and Hopkins Street.
Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said the Organised Crime Unit received a tip-off about drug dealing at the house.
Malatji said, “On arrival the police found two men inside a room with a stash of drugs which included rock, cocaine, and crystal with a street value of R500 000.”
Malatji added that the two suspects, aged 23 and 34 were arrested and detained at Yeoville Police Station. They were expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of dealing in drugs.
