Waverley matrics pull through

WAVERLEY - Matric pupils at Waverley Girls High receive their results and celebrate with joy over their pass marks.

As matrics around South Africa celebrate their successes or contemplate their failures, relief and joy ran high among the matric pupils returning to their school to receive their matric results. Pupils gathered at the all-girls high school in Waverley, a school established in 1953 which draws many of its pupils from nearby Alexandra.

One group of girls gathering to compare results at the school this morning had much to celebrate, discovering that all of them had passed. School headmaster Milton Seopa, meanwhile, was proud to announce an overall pass rate of 92.85 percent. 49.45 percent of the pupils achieved a Bachelor Degree pass, while a further 39.01 percent received a Diploma pass and 11.04 percent achieved a Higher Certificate.
