A Norwood revival
NORWOOD - IN THE spirit of community and summer fun, residents are invited to spend a day celebrating the unique quirkiness of this historic and creative suburb.

The Norwood Orchards Residents’ Association (Nora) is seeking to revive Norwood through the pride and social spirit of its residents. The latest initiative to showcase and celebrate this treed Joburg suburb is Love Norwood Day on 15 February, and community members are encouraged to spend a Sunday in the sun, learning about the neighbourhood and its businesses while they make the most of the fun on offer.
The event will take place in Norwood Park, where residents can explore the craft and food stalls in a pop-up market, and find a shady spot in the picnic area to enjoy their purchases to the sound of live music. A children’s entertainment area will keep little ones busy.
The Norwood creative industries section will showcase the area’s artistic spirit, and community members can try their hand at a range of boot camp classes and other physical activities in the fitness and lifestyle section. Representatives from various community organisations, including LifeLine, will be available.
Community members will have the chance to explore their picturesque suburb with photography and Instagram walks on the day. Meanwhile, an Instagram competition encourages residents to compete for prizes by posting photos of Norwood with the hashtag #lovenorwood in the weeks leading up to the event.
With a day of summer fun and weeks of anticipation to look forward to, Norwood residents are likely to see their suburb come to life in all its vibrant colours this month.
